Once again The Space will be participating in Long Island City Night during Armory Arts Week 2011. This year we will be celebrating the birthday of the lovely artist Shannon Beal during a reception for the second half of her solo-exhibition, The World May Be Round, But The Universe Is Flat, at Fardom Gallery. Please join us Friday, March 4, 2011 from 7-9pm for the festivities. All attendees will have the access to our open studios after the reception. Should you choose to stay after the reception, please dress for the weather, and know there is a flight of stairs that leads up to the studios.

The World May Be Round, But The Universe Is Flat • Shannon Beal

Fardom Gallery is pleased to announce the first solo-exhibition of works by Shannon Beal. Through her work, the artist explores the omniscient and omnipresent nature of the internet: “Literally all this at my fingertips, and I feel so knowing, so deep. So much to see, so much to know, so much curiosity to indulge.” By exploring the voyeuristic character of the internet, Beal struggles with the “cyber-induced god complex” and the facade of knowledge that it creates, ultimately coming to the conclusion that the world may be round, but the universe is flat.

Please join us for the opening reception of this exceptional exhibition of paintings this Friday.
